POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Facilities Manager will oversee all aspects of facilities, operations, maintenance, and vendor coordination. This on-campus role will ensure that our building systems: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, grounds and parking lot—are fully functional and well-maintained. The ideal candidate is hands-on, responsive, and able to manage both day-to-day issues and long-term planning.

 

SPECIFIC/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Mission Driven

  • Promote The Valley COM’s mission to train osteopathic physicians with the courage to lead, the passion to serve, and a devotion to learning.
  • Maintain the building to represent The Valley COM’s values.

Leadership and Advisory

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all facilities-related issues on campus.
  • Supervise maintenance staff, contractors, and vendors.
  • Manage the security company that is on premises.

Collaboration

  • Coordinate space usage, office moves, and resource allocation.
  • Oversee successful completion of service contracts (cleaning, HVAC, security, landscaping, etc.).
  • Communicate performance standards and KPIs.
  • Schedule and supervise vendor work, after proper authorization.

Strategic Planning and Development

  • Develop strategic plans for facility upgrades, expansions, and renovations aligned with organizational goals.
  • Oversee the lifecycle management of facilities and equipment to optimize their usefulness and cost-efficiency.

General

  • Coordinate with and supervise vendors, contractors, and maintenance providers.
  • Monitor building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire alarms, elevators, etc.) to ensure they are operating effectively and in compliance with safety standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance activities.
  • Respond quickly to facility-related emergencies and ensure minimal disruption to operations.
  • Manage maintenance logs, service contracts, and facility budgets as needed.
  • Support the planning and execution of campus events and space reconfigurations.
  • Work closely with campus leadership to support operational needs.
  • Oversee annual permitting for necessary fire life safety, elevators, and other items.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proven experience in facilities management, building operations, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with building systems and general maintenance practices.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage vendors and external service providers.
  • Comfort working independently and in a dynamic, start-up environment.
  • Experience in an educational, healthcare, or campus setting is a plus.
