POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Dean and Chief Academic Officer, the Chief Operating Officer & Chief of Staff (COO/COS) will be charged with collaborating with all college departments and units to help oversee and assist with the daily operations of The Valley COM. In the Chief Operating Officer role, this individual will oversee facility management, human resources, and security services. In the Chief of Staff role, this individual will support the CEO and the Dean as well as the Board of Trustees and Board of Managers.

SPECIFIC/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Mission Driven:

  • Ensure that all COM initiatives, policies, and processes align with the mission and strategic goals of The Valley COM.
  • Serve on committees and actively participate in service engagements as needed by The Valley COM.

Leadership:

  • Provide leadership in the daily operations and management of the COM.
  • Oversee the facilities, human resources, and security services for the COM.
  • Provide executive level support and assistance for the CEO and Dean/CAO.
  • Assist in the support of the Board of Trustees and Board of Managers.
  • Complete all required evaluations of direct reports.

Evaluation/Assessment:

  • Collaborate with the Office of Academic Affairs and Assessment, the Office of the Dean and the COM Committees to assure effectiveness of the COM operations, facilities, and services.

Professional Development:

  • Provide appropriate training and professional development applicable to the department either directly or in collaboration with the Faculty and Staff Professional Development team.

Collaboration:

  • Foster collaboration within the COM and extending to our clinical and community partners.

Accreditation, Quality and Compliance:

  • Ensure program(s) meet all accreditation standards and regulatory requirements, maintaining the highest quality of education and experience.

Strategic Planning and Development:

  • Contribute to the strategic planning and vision of the COM, identifying opportunities for growth and innovation that promotes the mission of The Valley COM.

Finance & Administration:

  • Assist in the management of the budget for the COM, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
  • Oversee the procurement and maintenance of necessary infrastructure and services for the COM.

General:

  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Undergraduate degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g., Education, Business, Finance, Management or a related discipline)
  • Strong knowledge and command of management skills
  • At least 3 – 5 years of proven experience in management of complex businesses
  • Outstanding leadership, finance, communication, collaborative teaming, and organizational skills
